Who I am

Orchid Files is an independent blog with essays.
Orchid is my author pseudonym.

No cookies, no ads

I do not use cookies, advertising pixels, or any form of behavioral tracking.
Your visit is not profiled, sold, or shared with third parties.

Ghost, the platform that powers this site, may set minimal technical cookies, for example for admin sessions, image uploads, email subscription status, and selected language.
This data is not used to track visitors.

What I collect

1. Site analytics

I value privacy and use analytics only to understand overall traffic and engagement.
Key points:

  • No cookies, no fingerprinting
  • No personal identifiers or cross-site tracking
  • Only aggregated metrics: page views, referrers, and approximate geography inferred from IP without storing it

Provider: Umami, self-hosted on my own server.
No data is sent to third parties.

2. Server logs

The hosting provider automatically creates logs: IP address, user-agent, URL, and timestamp. This is needed to protect the site from abuse and keep it available.
I do not combine logs with analytics or use them to identify individual visitors.

3. Direct communication (email or Telegram)

If you write to me by email or Telegram, messages are processed only for communication and consulting work.
I store only what is needed to reply or provide a service.
Conversations are not shared, analyzed, or used for marketing.

Data retention

  • Analytics — aggregated only, no personal data retained.
  • Server logs — deleted automatically after a short period.
  • Emails — kept only as long as needed to maintain communication.

Data sharing

I share limited technical data only with essential providers:

  • Hosting/CDN (Cloudflare): to deliver the site securely and protect against abuse.
  • Email: for message delivery.

Analytics are fully self-hosted and no analytics data is shared with third parties.
Providers listed above act as processors and cannot use data for their own purposes.

Your rights

You may contact [email protected] with any questions about your data or communication records.
As a rule, I do not store personal information, but I will delete any correspondence or records upon request.
I respond to requests within a few days.

Some pages link to external resources.
Their privacy practices are beyond my control.

Updates

I may update this policy when necessary.
The "Last updated" date always reflects the current version.

Consulting and communication outside this site (e.g., via Telegram or email) are handled personally.
Payments, if any, are agreed directly and do not pass through the website.
I do not collect or store financial data.
