We respect your time and privacy.
This page explains what data we do — and do not — collect when you use Orchid Files.

Who we are

Orchid Files is an independent publication and consulting practice focused on long-form writing and systems thinking.
Operated globally.

No cookies, no ads

We do not use cookies, advertising pixels, or any form of behavioral tracking.
Your visit is not profiled, sold, or shared.

Ghost, the platform that powers this site, may use minimal functional cookies — for example, to manage admin sessions or image uploads.
They are technical and do not track visitors.

What we collect

1. Site analytics (privacy-friendly)

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall traffic and engagement.
Key points:

  • No cookies, no fingerprinting
  • No personal identifiers or cross-site tracking
  • Only aggregated metrics: page views, referrers, approximate geography inferred from IP without storing it.

Provider: Plausible, in a privacy-first configuration.
If the provider changes, this section will be updated.

2. Server logs (security & reliability)

Our hosting provider automatically generates short-lived logs — IP address, user-agent, URL, and timestamp — to protect the site from abuse and ensure uptime.
We do not combine logs with analytics or identify individual visitors.

3. Direct communication (email or Telegram)

If you contact us via email or Telegram, messages are processed solely for communication and consulting purposes.
We store only what is necessary to reply or provide a service.
Conversations are not shared, analyzed, or used for marketing.

Data retention

  • Analytics — aggregated only, no personal data retained.
  • Server logs — deleted automatically after a short period.
  • Emails — kept only as long as needed to maintain communication.

Data sharing

We share limited technical data with essential service providers:

  • Hosting/CDN (Cloudflare) — to deliver the site securely and protect against abuse.
  • Analytics (Plausible) — privacy-first metrics only.
  • Email — for message delivery.

Providers act as processors and cannot use data for their own purposes.

Your rights

You may contact [email protected] for any questions about your data or communication records.
We generally do not store personal information, but we will delete any correspondence or records upon request.
We respond within the time frames required by applicable law.

Some pages link to external resources.
Their privacy practices are beyond our control.

Updates

We may update this policy when necessary.
The “Last updated” date always reflects the current version.

Consulting and communication outside this site (e.g., via Telegram or email) are handled personally.
Payments, if any, are agreed directly and do not pass through the website.
No financial data is collected or stored by Orchid Files.
